Andrew Callachan began his career in the Health and Fitness over 25 years ago. His journey began when he became one of the first students in Scotland to complete an HND in Health and Fitness. Further to studying he was working with clients delivering fitness classes to groups and personal training to a growing list of clients, some of whom he continues to work with to this day. Andrew continued to learn and develop his skills and qualifications at this time in both fitness related subjects and strength and conditioning; further study involved gaining a HND in Sports Therapy and then continued to gain a BSc Honours Degree in Applied Sports Science and Sports therapy at Teesside University.
He became a Chartered Physiotherapist in 2005 where he gained exceptional experience working with high level professional athletes; working as lead physiotherapist in professional Ice Hockey, Premier league football, Rugby and Scotland’s only physio working with professional MMA/ UFC fighters both as a coach and treating and management of trauma.
In 2000 Callachan’s Health and Fitness was opened combining injury management and exercise therapy which was a unique development at that time. His own professional development continued with successfully gaining a master’s degree in Advanced Practice Physiotherapy specialising in Musculoskeletal Conditions at Glasgow Caledonian University in 2014. He is a certified acupuncturist and manipulative therapist and has a vast array of certifications that he has travelled the world to gain. In addition, he certified as a level 2 functional movement specialist (FMS) and a level 1 Cross Fit.
Further to his studies Andrews main hobbies include studying martial arts, he is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt (1st stripe), from Marcos Nardini, and one of the first people to achieve this in Scotland. He has vast experience of competing in and coaching in MMA and is also one of the few Scottish Coaches that has had the experience of working with the UFC at the octagon (Paul Craig).
Andrew continues to deliver the best possible ethical care and treatment to his clients. He remains as committed to education and self-development within his profession as he was 25 years ago.
